Industrial Technology Vocational School Yogyakarta (SMK SMTI Yogyakarta in indonesian) is a vocational high school that focuses on the development of technology and the cultivation of highly skilled human resources for the industrial sector. The school has produced many competent graduates who are ready to compete in the workforce, particularly in the fields of chemical industry and automation technology. It offers three main areas of expertise: Industrial Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Mechatronics Engineering. Starting in 2024, SMK SMTI Yogyakarta has also launched a new program focused on the steel industry, aimed at meeting the growing demand for skilled workers in that sector. More information about the school can be found here.

Hans is one of the Mechatronics Engineering students who is expected to graduate in 2026. During his time at SMK SMTI Yogyakarta, he has gained valuable hands-on experience and practical knowledge in industrial technology, automation systems, and the integration of mechanical, electronic, and automatic control systems. With the support of well-equipped facilities—such as a mechatronics laboratory, industrial-grade equipment, and a project-based curriculum—Hans has been able to hone his technical skills and build a solid foundation for a future in the technology field.

One of Hans’s most memorable experiences was serving as a lab assistant during the P5 (Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project) exhibition and a school visit from SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta. During the event, he was responsible for explaining key industrial systems such as MAS (Module Assembly System), MPS (Module Processing System), as well as other laboratory equipment to visitors. This opportunity not only sharpened his technical communication skills but also boosted his confidence in presenting complex industrial concepts to the public.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Hans is actively involved in various extracurricular and organizational activities at school. He has taken part in event committees, student organizations, and school business projects such as selling beverage products during school events. Through these activities, Hans continues to develop essential soft skills including leadership, teamwork, and time management—complementing his technical expertise and preparing him to become a well-rounded professional in the field of mechatronics.

SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta (2019 - 2022)

National Junior High School 10 Yogyakarta, (SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta in indonesian) was the first place where Hans began to experience a more serious academic environment and took his first steps toward maturity. It was during his time at this school that Hans was first introduced to organizational life by joining OSIS (the student council) and Rohis (the Islamic student organization). Through these two organizations, he learned valuable lessons about responsibility, leadership, and the importance of teamwork and communication. Although still in the early stages of understanding the world of leadership, these experiences laid an important foundation for his personal growth and leadership development.

Hans’s middle school years coincided with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought drastic changes to the education system. Classes that were once conducted face-to-face had to be shifted online, and all organizational activities were forced to adapt to remote formats. Despite the challenges—ranging from limited access to digital tools to difficulties in online coordination—Hans remained actively involved in his organizational duties with dedication and enthusiasm. He quickly adapted to the new learning environment, managed his time independently, and tackled school and organizational responsibilities through creative and flexible approaches.

Amid the many limitations and obstacles brought on by the pandemic, Hans managed to prove his resilience and capabilities. He stayed focused on his studies and consistently gave his best in both academic and non-academic areas. His hard work paid off with remarkable results: Hans graduated as one of the top students in his class, earning a perfect score in Mathematics. His experience at SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta became a crucial chapter in his journey—one that taught him the value of perseverance, adaptability, and an unyielding spirit in the face of adversity.
